Any brand suggestions for a high quality packable down jacket?
Patagonia Down Sweater or Arc’teryx Cerium, both pack small, stay warm, and last for years.

Best women's down jacket for outdoor ice skating activities?
I really don’t think you can go wrong with Patagonia. I love my down sweater but I find it too warm for a lot of active use. Depending on how hot or cold you operate while active you might consider something like their nano puff. Down is not waterproof and does not hold in heat if it gets wet which is likely to happen if it is snowing or if you fall for example while synthetic insulation keeps its warmth while wet. Patagonia also has a legendary warranty and offers free repairs on their items for life. You really can’t get much more BIFL than that.

Looking for a good quality winter coat
Patagonia down sweater or nano puff were my go-tos in NYC. They're high quality with a great repair/replace policy. I wouldn't do anything crazy warm, you'll want something where you won't be melting on the subway.

what winter coat are yall using?
Patagonia down sweater will last you forever and they will repair it for like $60 if it ever rips. Light enough to keep on for a short car trip, warm enough to walk dogs for 20 mins in 30f weather.

I stopped buying clothes for 6 months - and I still had more than enough
Ive still a jacket from college. It’s an outdoor brand I can’t think of but it’s still good. I also have a Patagonia “down sweater” from college that’s been fixed twice and needs another run through (for free from Patagonia) that I wear all the time.

Anyone know any brands where you can buy puffer-jackets that have "Cinch Cords"
The cinch chords do wear out when you use them. I have a super old Patagonia down sweater full zip that I still enjoy.

Patagonia down sweater and hooded down sweater are what you are looking for! Pricey but worth it. One of my essentials for layering
