Looking for a good quality winter coat
For me North Face has always been a gamble because I've gotten good and bad products from them, but, in the winter of 2010 I bought a North Face Carto Triclimate at TJ Maxx for like $150 and I still use it as my daily commuter cost every winter (and I live in the cold North).

what winter coat are yall using?
I have a North Face 3 in 1 that will be my coat for (hopefully) life. My previous one (North Face also) was 15 years old and I only got rid of it because it didn’t fit me anymore, otherwise it was in great condition.

In need of warm winter coat with a budget of $350-400
I bought a north face triclimate in 2011, still wearing it today and it’s still like brand new, I’ve worn it in very cold temps skiing in Vail. Has held up great. I got it on clearance for like $120 but you can get them brand new in your price ranges.

[BIFL REQUEST] Looking for a jacket, waterproof shell + liner (or an insulated jacket) from one company
I think you're on the right track with the North Face 3-in-1. People don't like the 3-in-1 because North Face positions it as a very serious jacket and it isn't. You'll be disappointed with a 3-in-1 if you're an ice fisherman, for example, but with what you've described I think you'll be more than pleased. One caveat you may want to keep in mind - BIFL and fashion don't usually go hand in hand.
